Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. At the age five she moved to Oxfordshire where she studied at The Dragon School. Emma was just six when she made the decision to become an actress. She was trained for many years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she studied acting as well as singing. Emma's first film on the screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. The most successful film of 2001 The film broke records for its debut day sales as well as the opening weekend's earnings. The film was praised by critics who praised the film and particularly the young performers. The Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Daily Telegraph in America, widely read, called her performance commendable. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for the feature Film. She was later awarded five times for her part in the film.
